About the Event
Join YNPN Atlanta for a Day of Service with Trees Atlanta as we help care for the John Lewis Flowering Forest in Freedom Park, a living tribute honoring the legacy of Congressman John Lewis. Over the past five years, more than 1,000 flowering trees have been planted in the forest, chosen to bloom in late winter in celebration of Lewis’s birthday on February 21.
During this volunteer project, participants will work alongside Trees Atlanta staff to weed and refresh mulch around young trees—an important step in protecting them from damage, suppressing weeds, and improving soil health. The work is hands-on and active, involving bending, lifting, and kneeling, so come prepared to get a little dirty while making a meaningful impact on Atlanta’s urban canopy.
